The saturated paste test is a test for suluble minerals in the soil. It includes tests for pH, soluble salts, chloride, bicarbonate, S, P, Ca, Mg, K, Na, B, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn and Al using water as the solvent. This test identifies the amount of soluble nutrients present in the soil. It is a test for short term availability of nutrients. If you irrigate, always supply irrigation water to the lab for this test.
How does it work? After you order we will email you a form to send with your soil sample. You will need to sample your soil (here’s how to take a soil sample) and mail the sample to Logan Labs. Logan Labs will test the sample and we will email the soil test report to you.
If you irrigate more than 50% of the time, we recommend that you also include an irrigation water sample to be used in the saturated paste test (the test for soluble minerals).
How long does it take? It usually takes 3-5 working days after your samples arrive at Logan Labs before you receive your soil test report. In the spring the lab is busier and it may take longer. Logan shuts down for major holidays and the week between Christmas and New Years.
